When I went to Garmisch-Partenkirchen for a short holiday in April, I didn't know that there were these perfect cascading waterfalls called Kuhfluchtwasserfälle. Along the 1km length you come across several waterfalls, one is prettier than the other, the higher you get the more interesting waterfall you see, it's a direct proportion.
Anyone can make the journey, at least to Unterer Kuhfluchtwasserfäll, where there is a nice view of the waterfall. There are several on the way up. But the best places to take photos are in some cases beyond the railings, so don't let anyone see you…
The more fit hikers will combine a trip around the cascades with a hike up to Hoher Fricken (1940 m). I didn't have time for that and, above all, there were unpleasant health problems, so I reached the last viewpoint on the Oberer Kuhfluchtwasserfäll and headed back to the car park. The trip down took about 1 hour. Parking fees can only be paid for the whole day. In 2024 it is 5 EUR. The car park belongs to the adjacent small water park Warmfreibad Farchant.
