Two mountain lakes caught our attention - Seebensee and Drachensee. Both lakes are close to each other and it is possible to combine a visit to them in one day. 

The road to the first, larger (and more touristy) lake Seebensee starts at the parking lot of the Ehrwalder Almbahn. The cable car costs 23 euros in 2024 without discount. The way to the lake is along a pleasant path suitable for families with small children or cyclists.

It is a perfect place for rest and relaxation, we liked it very much, on the other hand we were discouraged by the large number of tourists. We therefore decided after a while to continue to the Drachensee lake, which is 40 minutes and 250 vertical metres away.

A beer and a sweet cake in the mountain hut Coburger stung and then it was time to relax and enjoy the lake. The well-known and popular Tajakante ferrata can also be found in the area and if you want to go on a longer hike, continue to the Hinteres Tajatörl pass and from there back to the cable car. Just make sure you make it back to the cable car in time.
