Do you want to go on an expedition along the mountain ridges, where you feel like you're in Lord of the Rings? Then I recommend going to the top, which David and I have collectively named the gay top. It all starts with a simple hike to the near-peak of Golmer Joch (2124m) by the Golmerbahn 1, 2 and 3. The first few metres gave us a surprisingly enough.
Now we enter the beginning of the ridge called Golmer Höhenweg and continue to the next peak, Latschätzkopf (2219m). If you don't set off around 9:00 after the cable car starts, you'll probably meet quite a number of less fit hikers and you will have to dodge them on the narrow paths.
Most of them will not get further than the top of Kreuzjoch (2261m), which we preferred to bypass straight away. After that, you will finally start to feel like in a movie. At first glance, it may seem that you won't climb too many vertical metres, but the ridge line forces you to keep going up and down, and in total it makes at least 650m of elevation gain and a distance of around 10km.
The finishing point was not that interesting, as it was overgrown with high grass and weeds and the insects flying around were quite annoying. As it happens in life, it was the journey that was best, not the destination.
