Postalmklamm - B/C

05/05/2024

Elevation: 500m / Lenght: 350m
Approach: 10min / Duration: 2-3h
Rating: 5/5

On my way to the highest mountain plateau of Austria, Postalm, I stopped at the ferrata of the same name. It is a fun and a bit wet climbing right in the gorge on the Rusbach river. It takes just under 2 hours to "climb" the whole thing and there can definitely be queues on some days, entering the pass by private car to the parking will cost you a whole 17 euros in 2024, I was a bit bummed about that.

The difficulty of the ferrata in the gorge is B/C all the time and it felt more like a rope park than a ferrata, some people may like it and some may not. In rainy weather it will definitely be quite slippery here, don't expect any dry climbing, I'm sure a few drops will fall on you even on hot summer days. After scrambling up to the waterfalls, you can continue on to other optional sections of difficulty D or F (really only for experts, according to the reviews!). I didn't choose either and hiked up the arch on my own and returned to my car.
