The Berchtesgaden National Park is undoubtedly the most beautiful part of Germany, I recommend everyone to visit this place for a week. I will probably come back here again in the years to come and visit all the places I missed during my five-day holiday.
The area around Berchtesgaden is the perfect place for long hikes in a beautiful alpine setting, with something different around every corner.
Your journey usually starts at the car park in Königssee, followed by a cruise on the lake of the same name. Parking for the day will cost €8 in 2024. I would recommend taking the first ferries in the morning, there may not be enough tickets for everyone in the afternoon, I wouldn't risk it especially in the peak summer season. The earlier you go, the better.

You get off at a stop called Salet and after a few metres you reach the very photogenic and beautiful Obersee lake, unfortunately I just had a cloudy day, but it was still worth it.
My main goal was to see for myself Germany's longest waterfall Rötbachfall with a length of 470m. There are dozens of "cute" cows grazing right below it, it's a very nice and relaxing place. Just watch out for the "cow sh*t", the path to the waterfall reminded me more of a minefield.
More experienced hikers (like me, haha) can go on a great hike through the Hochgschirr Pass (1949m) and climb to the top of the Kahlersberg (2350m). Beware, the pass was still under snow in May, I had to wade through the snow for more than an hour. Fortunately, there was already a track, so the risk of falling to the unknown was quite low, but definitely not zero!
For the casual tourist there is the Jennerbahn cable car which takes you almost to the top of Jenner (1874m), from here you have incredible views of the Berchtesgaden National Park as a whole, it really was a blast but it did hurt the wallet a bit.
