You know that feeling when the weather is not on your side, but you are excited for a proper hike after the winter and nothing can stop you? Well, that's exactly the case. The climb to the top of Kramerspitz (1985 m) is not difficult in summer, just physically demanding for "weak asses" and regular tourists. But in winter or early April it's a different story and can be quite dangerous, so watch out!

I recommend everyone to reach the fairly unknown Felsen-Kanzel viewpoint, the trail is safe, maybe dangerous for your lazy knees and joints. I would say that this is one of the best viewpoints in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in good weather...

I would only recommend going further in summer or for the more experienced ones, unless you want to wade through half a metre of snow on a steep slope where a slip or slide could mean the end of your life. I myself ventured to the top of the Mittergern (1834m) and decided to turn back, the risks of continuing were too high and the reward very low due to the bad weather. Parking at the Almhütte Windbeutelalm restaurant was free in 2024, at least i hope so.
